Guide to Downtown SLC: Farmer's Market

You know a city is a real city when its farmer’s market is a weekend destination for people from all across the valley. The market here in Salt Lake is an absolute summer staple with its accessibility, great prices, and the support it contributes to local vendors.

Running Saturday mornings from June through October (and Tuesday nights as well, later in the summer), the Downtown Farmer’s Market at Pioneer Park is your one stop shop for everything produce, treats, plant friends, and crafty goodness. We spent our Saturday at the market with pastries from Tulie and cold brew from a new SLC favorite, Charming Beard. There’s an abundance of produce vendors, but this weekend we chose greens from the Salt Lake County Jail tent, whose organization provides growth and experience for inmates, as well as potential job opportunities upon their release.

As you’re planning your post-4th summer barbecues and home dinners with your GAL PALS, consider hitting up the market instead of Trader Joe's and getting all your goods there. Support your city! Ride your bike over, have a minty limeade and enjoy the dozens of musicians gracing the park. The heat can be fairly miserable this time of year, so we recommend getting an early start on Saturday. Plus, that’s first dibs on pain au chocolat. So.
