SHADNA AUM//

UGLY is a magazine and concept that I've worked to create (along with all of the staff) a viable and vibrant market for artistic living in Salt Lake City. I've seen a lot of great talent bloom here and move on to greener pastures. But that's not what I want for this city. It's about community and communication.  It's about illuminating the value of local living and experiencing the awesome culture around us. 

I've done a lot as an artist, gallery owner, and volunteer in this city. A lot of great shows went unattended. A lot of art went unsold. A lot of the creativity was being suffocated. On the other hand, it forced the passionate to persevere and the dispassionate to perish. It's created a cultural movement that is ripe and ready to move out of the shadows and into the light. What was once considered taboo and risque is now becoming accepted. That's what UGLY stands for.
